SCHOLARS
Scholar Overview
We believe personal development happens both on the field and in the classroom. That’s why the FYFL encourages academic and personal excellence by giving out weekly awards for scholastics and leadership and annual awards for entrepreneurships.
FYFL requires its athletes to perform adequately in the classroom before permitting them to participate.
We believe that the standards we have set give these student-athletes a sense of responsibility and an appreciation for academics and athletics that will help them develop later on in life.
Like such organizations as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and National Federation of High Schools (NFHS), FYFL has academic guidelines and criteria that need to be met in order for a child to participate.
SCHOLASTIC REQUIREMENT:
Proof of satisfactory progress in school is required. A 2.0 GPA/70% or the equivalent shall be the minimum grade point average acceptable to participate. If a valid report card is not submitted, the athlete WILL NOT be registered with FYFL.
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A 2.0 GPA/70% GRADE POINT AVERAGE?
We understand that not all athletes are able to meet our scholastic requirements at the time of Mass Registration. If a athlete does not meet the scholastic requirement, the athlete will be place Academic Probation and given a FYFL Performance Form.
The Scholastic Performance Form MUST be completed and returned to the FYFL Scholastic Coordinator accompanied with a progress report or the 1st quarter report card of the current school year by the third (3rd) Monday of October. If the progress report or the report card does not show improvement or is not turned in by the deadline, the athlete shall be ineligible for the remainder of the season.

FYFL FUTURE LEADERS
One of the things that sets our League apart is our commitment to promoting leadership and becoming active in their communities. The student-athletes are invited to join this program each year based on scholastic achievements. Once accepted into the program, the student-athletes partake in programming on leadership, civic engagement, public speaking, community engagements, and self-esteem. The program runs from December through July each year, with monthly activities.
